Minnesota School Bus Roadeo

Promoting School Bus Safety Thru Competition

Each year school bus drivers from across Minnesota are invited to participate in Minnesota’s School Bus Road-eo, to test their knowledge and skills in the area of student transportation.

The 2017 Road-eo will be held at the North Metro Driver Exam Station located at 5400 Old Highway 8, (in the area of 35W and Co Rd I), Arden Hills, MN 55112; on May 6th

Registration begins at 7:00 am.

The Roadeo

Drivers compete individually for top honors in safe student transportation. Drivers have the opportunity to demonstrate their professionalism, skill, and dedication to pupil transportation in the operation of either a conventional, transit (forward control) or small bus.

A written test is administered to quiz the driver’s knowledge concerning the rules and laws governing school bus operations.

In addition each contestant will conduct an abbreviated pre-trip inspection to determine if the school bus is in safe operating condition or violations exist.

The event culminates with an awards ceremony honoring the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, as well as the Rookie of the Year.
